    Old-Fashion Syrup Bread

    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1/2 cup butter
    1 cup molasses
    2 cups flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 cup sour milk
    1/2 cup nuts and/or raisins, if desired

    Mix all ingredients together and put into a large greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
